Imbolc

Beannacht Brighdhe! Feliz Imbolc a todos

Imbolc is coming, this is one of the most relevant festivities in Celtic tradition, celebrated in the closest full moon between the winter solstice and spring equinox, as with other pagan festivities christianity took it as its own and designated february 2° as Saint Brigid's day in the north and Día de la candelaria in the south.
Imbolc celebrated the changes that happened in nature around this time with the strenghtening of the sun and also to honor Godess Brigid, due to this association she was considered a solar and fire Godess.
Amongst the possible ethymologies for the word Imbolc it's: Oimelc (ewe's milk)  sheeps gave birth around this time and the calves were considered a blessing and a symbol of abundance.
Or from I mbolg (inside the womb) since earth is bearing all that will flourish in spring, seeds, intentions and wishes we sowed during winter's solstice.
Thus the close relation of the festivity with the womb and fertility.
Brigid, always represented with a flame in hand, she was one of the most important celtic deities thanks to all the things she was patron of, she was a triple godess and in each of her aspects she represented relevant moments in women's lives (maiden, mother and elder) and in each stage her flame gave humans various gifts.
Wisdom flame: all things creativity and arts related, language, poetry, music, inspiration, adivination and prophecy.
Hearth flame: Ruled home protection, fertility, family, childbirth, women and healing.
Transformation Flame: granted blacksmith and golsmith skills and a hand for crafts such as weaving and the elaboration of beer and Mead.
All of the above mentioned elements were part of the celebration, it was a time to dissipate fear with light, fires were lit in the fields and people danced around them to bring good luck, ancients believed that Brigid would wander around that night and bless those who left a lit candle outside their window in her honor.

A few days ago we had a fire trine in the sky with the Moon in Aries and Mars in Saggitarius, perhaps it was Brigid announcing herself, reminding us the true purpose of what we have sowed.
Let's make the most of aquarius season connecting and sharing with those whose energy nurtures our soul, Let's do all the things that feel like sunshine to us, let us bear a new life for ourselves within our minds and bring it to fruition with our every action.
Beannacht Brighdhe! Happy Imbolc everyone

When Life Gives You Lemons...

The year I turned into Remy...

Have you ever seen Ratatouille? Remember the scene where Remy learns how to fully enjoy the taste of food by mixing it together? I do the same and that hasn't gone unnoticed to my beloved boyfriend who lately has had a blast with the improvement of my kitchen skills and the trial and error in between.  I think I've always loved cooking... yet I've always denied it to myself and to anyone who has ever suggested it.  At home it was my dad who cooked on a daily basis (my mom would take over for him on his birthday) and he really is a great cook, at some point of his life he even owned a sea food restaurant.  When i was little i would go into the kitchen to see what he was doing and he would end up teaching me the basics of cooking, how to hold a knife, how to season fearlessly and how to cook the perfect steak in any term, cooking time ended up being a bonding activity for us and i learned how food was a great way to show someone you cared for them.  Showing people that i care

The weirdest kid there ever was...

Hi There! My name is Brenda, I'm 27, I'm into astrology,  history, dogs and food, of course i'm interested in other subjects as well but i do invest a great deal of my time and atention in these and they all share in common the fact that i've been into them since my childhood. Picture this: A little girl who grew up so used to astrology as something almost essential to the point that when i was in first year of elementary my teacher asked me when my birthday was and since i wasn't sure about the day i told her i was a Gemini (Shout out to mom and dad for providing me with a well rounded education haha) A Girl that used to hide in the bathtub in the Middle of the night, to read a cook book when i couldn't sleep because looking at the pictures of food was relaxing for me and after a while i would just go back to sleep. A kid that by 8 was obsessed to learn about every dog breed and where they came from (i know right? if only i had cared that much about school) Alt
